SERVICES | CAMERA DRONES

We maintain a large and varied fleet of aerial drones designed specifically for photography, filming and mapping missions. We stock everything from small light lift, single operator quadcopter packages to larger medium lift hexarotors (6 blade) and octorotors (8 blade) units capable of flying pretty much every DSLR on the market today. For large-scale film shoots we can provide our custom built heavy lift drones capable of flying cinema cameras and lenses like the Red Dragon or Arri Mini with CP2 prime lenses.

DroneBoy can also provide custom solutions for your specific needs. Do you need to look up at the bottom of a bridge for an inspection? Check out our all new UpDrone upward facing camera technology. Perhaps you need a custom branded drone to drop off a 2kg jar of pickles for a novel TV commercial shoot; no problem, we already did that one - check out the video HERE! At DroneBoy we will come up with innovative, cost effective solutions for all your drone and UAV needs.

We divide our camera drones into the following classifications:

Light Lift Class

This includes the smaller quadcopter (4 blade) Phantoms, as well as the full range of Inspire class drones.  We stock the X3, X5 & X5RAW Inspire units including the awesome new Inspire 2.

These drones are single or dual operator setup and come with a range of small format camera options. With these systems we can shoot up to 14mp still images and up to 4k video.

This class of drone is perfect for smaller budgets, rapid deployment and getting gear into hard-to-reach places (think mountain tops and volcanoes etc.).

The photo and video quality of this class of drone is amazing!

Medium Lift Class

Here we have the larger, professional grade hexarotor (6 blade) and octorotor (8 blade) machines like the S900 and S1000.

These are dual operator setups that carry high end video capable DSLRs like the Canon 5D MKIII, Panasonic's new GH4, the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera and the amazing new Sony A7S2.

This class of drone is perfect for projects where cinematic film quality is required and the budgets are a little higher. In this range of drone and camera package we can offer up to 50 mega pixel stills as well as RAW, ProRes and DNG video output for superior quality imaging, better dynamic range and amazing post production color correction capabilities.

These medium lift drones are a terrific balance of cost, image quality and ease of implementation.

Heavy Lift Class

This is the really large octorotor (8 blade) drones like our awesome Aeronavics SkyJib X4XL. They are always dual operator setups and come with a full operations team.

These drones feature heavy-duty camera stabilizing gimbals that can support camera packages that weigh up to 16lbs. This means we can fly cameras like the Red Dragon, the ARRI Mini, the Canon C Series, high-speed cameras (Phantom etc.) and many others. We have remote follow focus capability as well. Directors and cinematographers can shoot with the gear they choose and be confident that they are getting the best quality, most reliable hardware on the market. We also have cameras and lens packages that are pre-configured for optimal results OR we can fly your gear.

The heavy lift drones are the only way to go if you want to fly the very best cameras and get the best footage possible.

All New UpDrone

We have had a lot of enquiries for a drone that can “look up” for both unique cinematography shots as well as inspections. In order to service this niche market, we designed and built our own custom UpDrone – an all new camera platform with upward facing camera gimbal.

Now we can offer our clients an unobstructed, fully stabalized, 360-degree view UPWARDS, as well as the conventional bottom mount camera solutions.

We can also supply a selection of cameras, lenses and camera gimbals to give you a perfectly fluid, steady shot every time. There are some instances where drones may not be practical and for those situations we are offering cable cam rigs.

All our aerial filming packages come with downlink technology that gives us a live preview to field monitors. For live events we can also offer real time HD video streaming for live playback. On all production shoots we provide full redundant back up of all mission critical systems to guarantee you zero downtime. At the end of the shoot we can give you the raw footage on a portable hard drive, SD card or we can edit and color correct it and provide you with the finished product with a very short turn around.

Our New UpDrone Technology

OUR NEW UPDRONE TECHNOLOGY

At DroneBoy we have been strapping gimbal stabilized camera rigs on the bottom of drones for years now and we have been getting some pretty great results this setup. One disadvantage to putting the camera under the drone is if we ever need to “look up” above the horizon we get the propellers in the shot. Not great! A few months ago we decided to challenge ourselves and flip everything on its head by devising a way to mount the camera...
